| Diagnostic Services : |
We
are committed to providing for each
patient an initial appointment during
which patient’s concerns and their
dental desires can be addressed. We
will explain our philosophy of modern
dentistry, our office policies and recommend
and perform necessary diagnostic procedures
like Digital X-rays, diagnostic casts,
diagnostic photographs etc. We will
do thorough charting of existing oral
conditions.
After we have listened to what you want,
examined your mouth, and know your dental
needs we will come up with several treatment
options. We will educate our patients
about their existing oral conditions
and the available treatment options;
so that they can make an informed decision
about the treatment they need or desire.
You can have all the advanced dentistry
you want and deserve. It just takes
a little planning. We can help with
that. More importantly it requires a
commitment of good oral hygiene habits
on your part. If you want all of your
teeth, all of your life, follow our
recommendations and do it right the
first time.

| Preventive Care : |
Your
teeth should stay healthy and useful
throughout your life by preventing the
onset or progression of periodontal
(gum) diseases. A regular schedule of
dental care is the best way to do it.
We’ll keep you on track with courtesy
calls and reminder cards for your next
scheduled appointment.
Remember, even when your mouth feels
healthy, there may be problems below
the surface you can’t see—
cracks in an old filling, decay under
and around existing fillings and crowns,
periodontal pockets, or even indications
of more serious dental problems like
chronic infection/abscess at the tip
of the root.
Our goal is to prevent any small dental
problems from growing larger (and more
expensive and time-consuming to treat).
For example, if you grind your teeth
at night, we can construct a nightguard
to help you avoid permanent damage to
your teeth and gums.
Preventive
care services include:
* Regular Cleaning
and Hygiene
* Dental Sealants
* Regular Checkups
* Patient Education
* Nightguards

| Cosmetic Dentistry : |
Cosmetic dentistry is a discipline
within dentistry for the modification
of cosmetic appearance of a patient's
oral cavity and surrounding structures.
The goal of Cosmetic Dentistry is
to alter a patient’s mouth in
order to more closely represent the
patient’s subjective concept
of what is visually pleasing. This
alteration works in conjunction with
the prevention and treatment of oral
disease.
Procedures
for Cosmetic Dentistry :
Whitening:
Many people consider
white teeth to be an attractive feature
of a smile. Teeth whitening or bleaching
is the most common cosmetic procedure.
Though there are other whiting options
available to the patient, dentist-supervised
treatments remain the recommended procedures
for lightening discolored teeth. A typical
course of bleaching can produce dramatic
improvements in the cosmetic appearance
of most stained teeth; however, some
stains do not respond to bleaching.
Enamel
Shaping:
Minor deformities in tooth size and
shape can be altered with this procedure.
It involves removing parts of the contouring
enamel to improve the appearance of
the tooth. It may be used, for example,
to correct a small chip in a tooth.
Bonding:
Another option
for chipped or cracked teeth is using
this procedure. Bonding is a process
in which an enamel-like dental composite
material is applied to a tooth's surface,
which is then sculpted into shape, hardened,
and then polished. This procedure can
be used to restore a chipped or cracked
tooth or close narrow space between
the teeth.
Veneers:
One of the
more popular procedures requires the
use of a veneer. A veneer is an ultra-thin,
custom-made laminate that is bonded
directly to the teeth. It is an option
for closing gaps or disguising discolored
teeth that did not respond well to whitening
procedures or to mask minor crowding
of the teeth.

| Implant Dentistry : |
A dental implant is a synthetic metallic
root substitute that is surgically
placed in the jaw bone. Its application
varies from patient to patient. It
may be used to replace a single missing
tooth, several missing teeth or to
provide added retention and stability
to dental appliances like partial
and complete dentures.
Benefits
of Dental Implants :
Feel:
Because the dental implant integrates
with the jaw bone, the replacement
of teeth and/or prosthesis with implants
feels more like natural teeth.
Support
and Stability: Implants
give excellent retention and stability
to partial or complete dentures and
thus eliminate the need for denture
adhesives. In most upper denture cases
the palate portion of the denture
could be eliminated so one can feel,
speak and eat naturally.
Nutrition:
Because chewing capacity with complete
dentures is less than 10% than that
of natural teeth and even lower in
poorly fitting dentures as a result
of poor jaw bone support; implant
supported dentures can greatly improve
your chewing.
Self-esteem:
Implant supported crowns, bridges,
partial and complete dentures look
and feel so much like natural teeth,
that it will improve the self-esteem
and confidence of the patient.
Unlike many dentists in the
community, Dr. Rajiv Patel is skilled
in both the surgical placement of
the dental implants and the restoration
of teeth with crowns, bridges, partial
dentures and complete dentures. This
is a significant advantage for the
patient who requires not only a restoration
of the natural function but also an
aesthetically pleasing smile.
Modern techniques have made it possible
for nearly everyone who is missing
teeth to qualify as a candidate for
implant treatment. The determining
factors are a sufficient amount of
quality bone, good oral hygiene, and
generally good health.
For patients who have already lost
significant amounts of bone, simple
and predictable techniques are now
available to accomplish bone regeneration
prior to implant placement.
Prior to implant placement, the remaining
teeth and gums need to be healthy.
Conscientious oral hygiene and regular
check-ups with your dentist are also
important for long-term success.
Dental
Implant Treatment
The process of replacing missing
teeth with dental implants requires
a lengthy treatment. A typical case
will undergo several phases:
Phase
One: The patient’s
desires are discussed in detail, and
a comprehensive evaluation of the
present condition of patient’s
mouth, gums, teeth, and jaw bones,
is evaluated. At this time, impressions
of teeth or jaw bones are taken for
diagnostic models.
Phase
Two: The
implants are surgically placed into
the jaw bone. Bone and soft tissue
manipulation surgeries may be performed
as needed before actual surgical placement
of implants. Implants are left to
heal and integrate with the bone for
the period of 4-6 months.
Phase Three: The
patient’s mouth will under go
restorative and prosthetic reconstruction.
It may involve a period of temporary
restorations while permanent restorations
are being fabricated. Final restorations
or prosthetic devices like dentures
are then either cemented or screwed
into place.
Phase Four: The
maintenance of the implants is required
of the patient. Very good Oral hygiene
habits are most important in order
to maintain healthy and functional
implants for the longest time possible.
Dental hygiene appointments at 3-4
months intervals are highly recommended.
What are Mini Implants ?
Imagine
visiting us in the morning, having
Mini Dental Implants placed in less
than 2 hours, then leaving the dental
office to enjoy your favorite lunch.
Eat comfortably, laugh and talk with
confidence - all for an affordable
price. We can replace one or more
missing teeth or use this technology
to stabilize your denture. There is
no cutting of the gums and no stitches
to remove. Sounds too good to be true,
but with Mini Dental Implant Technology
it is true!
How much does an implants
treatment cost ?
Since the individual needs
of each patient are different, it
is necessary to formulate a treatment
plan before the actual cost of treatment
can be determined. Many factors are
involved in this process, including
the number of implants needed, the
type of replacement teeth desired,
and possible surgical procedures necessary
to enhance the final esthetic and
functional results. Once the treatment
plan has been developed, a fee estimate
is determined taking these factors
into consideration.

| Sedation Dentistry : |
|
A fear of going to
the dentist is not uncommon. Many patients
feel anxious or afraid while sitting
in a dental chair. Some even put off
seeing a dentist because of this fear
or the experience of a painful procedure
in the past. In other cases, patients
have an uncontrollable gag reflex or
have experienced difficulties in getting
numb. For these and many other reasons,
patients put off dental treatments they
need or desire, risking their oral health
and the general health of their smiles.
If you are one of the many who suffer
from anxiety or fear of seeing a dentist,
sedation dentistry may be the solution
you’ve been looking for. Dr. Rajiv
Patel offers sedation dentistry to make
the patient as comfortable as possible,
in order to ensure a more successful
treatment.
What is Sedation Dentistry ?
Sedation Dentistry, also known as Conscious
Sedation or Relaxation Dentistry, refers
to the way dentists manage pain and
anxiety during dental appointments.
Unlike General Anesthesia, where a patient
is completely unconscious and unable
to respond, patients under Conscious
Sedation, are able to respond to commands
and breath on their own. Patients who
are sedated respond to verbal commands,
however they are relaxed enough not
to feel any pain or discomfort. Most
patients are so relaxed, in fact, that
they claim they were sleeping through
the entire procedure. And at the end
of the procedure, you will have very
little or no memory of what was done.
There
are 3 primary ways that Sedation is
administered in the Dental Office:
1. IV
Sedation also known
as Deep Conscious Sedation is
usually used by Oral Surgeons and General
Dentists with specialized training and
special certification. With this type
of sedation, medications are administered
directly into the blood stream. The
greatest advantage of IV Sedation is
that if someone is not sedated enough,
the doctor can administer more medication
and the effects are instantaneous. IV
Sedation is not used commonly in most
dental offices because of the specialized
advanced training required and the requirements
for certification by the State Board
of Dentistry. The drugs used for IV
Sedation are more effective then the
same drugs taken orally. There is a
more profound amnesia associated with
this technique.
2. Enteral
Conscious Sedation "Orally
Administered Sedation", sometimes
called "Sedation Dentistry"
is administered by taking a pill. All
body functions remain normal and the
person is able to breathe on their own.
The patient will often fall asleep.
Some degree of amnesia is common. The
disadvantage with this method of sedation,
is that the level of sedation for each
person is not predictable.
3. Inhalation
Conscious Sedation,
Nitrous Oxide/Oxygen Sedation
also known as "laughing gas".
This is the most frequently used sedation
method used in dentistry. All bodily
functions remain normal and the person
is able to breathe on their own. The
patient will often fall asleep and experience
some degree of amnesia about what happened
during their dental appointment. Inhalation
Sedation has been used by dentists for
many years.
Why is Sedation Dentistry ?
A fear of going to see a dentist can
compromise your oral health and hygiene,
but Dr. Rajiv Patel offers Sedation
Dentistry as safe practice that can
help you overcome your fear and enjoy
a healthy, beautiful smile. Dr. Rajiv
Patel knows that IV sedation is the
answer to many patents’ fears.
He and his staff are trained and certified
to provide this service for your comfort.
Because, the more relaxed you are during
a visit to the dentist, the less likely
it is that you will experience trauma
and pain from the procedure.
Here
is how it works:
Step 1
- Call for appointment.
One of our
staff members can answer all your questions
and help yon feel more comfortable coming
for your initial visit. And rest assured,
we have successfully helped many patients
like yourself.
Step 2 - Initial visit and treatment
plan discussion visit.
We welcome
the opportunity to get to know you.
At your initial appointment your dental
concerns and dental desires will be
addressed. Necessary diagnostic records
like charting the existing conditions
of your teeth and other oral tissues,
Digital X-rays, diagnostic casts and
photographic images will be taken. The
need for sedation will be justified
and established.
At the next
visit Dr. Patel will explain to you
in detail the present condition of your
teeth and oral tissues and will present
a detailed treatment plan and viable
alternatives.Once the treatment plan
and the sequence of the procedures is
mutually agreed upon, Dr. Patel will
give you the consent and pre-op instructions
for the sedation and dental procedure
to be performed. Generally the fees
for Sedation and the dental treatment
for the planned appointment will be
collected at this time.
Step 3 - Arriving for treatment.
Some one
will need to accompany you to our office.
Dr. Rajiv Patel will review your medical
history to ensure it is still a safe
alternative for you. Then Dr. Patel
or one of the staff members will start
an IV in your arm. Dr. Patel will administer
the medication for sedation and in matter
of minutes you will be very relaxed
and ready for the dental procedures.
You will be continually monitored for
B.P. , blood Oxygen saturation and respiration
with the use of monitors during the
entire procedure in order to ensure
you experience no discomfort.
After the treatment is performed, there
is usually a recovery period of only
about 15 to 20 minutes; and most patients
are working the next day. You will be
amazed at how much can be accomplished
in such a seemingly short period of
time because you will have very little
or no memory of your visit.
Step 4 - Going home.
Because of
the lingering effects of the sedatives,
you will need someone to drive you home.
Post-op instructions and any necessary
medications will be provided to you
and your escort. This to ensure you
will continue to be comfortable after
your treatment. |
